What it is
Tokens issued by a crypto exchange company and used inside that exchange's business. Tokens of decentralized exchanges are in Decentralized exchanges.
What they share
The one fact that matters most: each token's value is tied to a single company. Holders typically get trading-fee discounts and early access to token sales, and most issuers buy back and burn tokens from their profits. The exchange itself controls the supply schedule, so it is a company decision, not a protocol rule.
What separates them
- Chain role. Some are also the gas token of a blockchain the exchange runs (BNB for BNB Chain, CRO for Cronos, OKB for X Layer), which gives them a second source of demand; others are purely exchange perks (LEO, KCS, GT).
- Burn policy. Fixed schedules, profit-based buybacks, or discretionary burns.
- The company. Its size, its regulatory standing and its own history are the risk you carry with the token.
